The second half of the Formula One season is well and truly underway as we gear up for a weekend of heritage at the Italian Grand Prix.
This weekend will mark the 70th anniversary of Grand Prix racing at Monza, an occasion Ferrari have marked with this wonderful poster.
In terms of what to expect this Sunday, Mercedes look like they will dominate proceedings. In First Practice on Friday, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas were 1.15 seconds ahead of Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari. Of course, FP1 and 2 are now indications of what to expect come race day, but this is a circuit Mercedes have revelled during recent years.
Monza is one of the fastest and shortest tracks on the calendar, with few turns and some long straights. It favours engine power and reliability, a field that Mercedes effectively own. Ferrari did show their leaps in race pace last week, Vettel keeping tabs on Hamilton across the sprawling Spa circuit.
Elsewhere, Fernando Alonso has been struck with a 35-place grid penalty, to make his torrid season even more gruelling. If a picture is worth a thousand years, look no further than this screenshot of Nando, likely staring into the abyss of a wasted three seasons at McLaren,
