The wait is over. After three tedious weeks of rumours, weird videos and driver spats, Formula One finally goes racing again at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend. Ferrari will be looking to kick-on during the second half of the season and reap the rewards of an outstanding first half to the year.
However, the tracks between Spa and Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi, in November undoubtedly play into Mercedes' hands. They favour power and straight-line speeds over aerodynamics, one thing that Mercedes has over Ferrari. Come Abu Dhabi in around 12 weeks time, the title race should be incredibly close.
Whilst the racing has stopped, Ferrari have been busy securing both their drivers for next season. Sebastian Vettel is rumoured to be close to agreeing an additional year at the Scuderia, despite a constant rumour that he'll driving a Mercedes next season. Kimi Raikkonen has penned an additional year much to the bemusement of the sport's fans. Yes, Raikkonen is a good driver and has enjoyed an outstanding career, but has he warranted a fourth season with the Prancing Horse? Vettel seems to enjoy the Finn's presence in the team, so perhaps its an attempt to entice the German to stay one more year.
