Rosberg Retakes Championship Lead In Singapore

Under the lights in Singapore, a fairly processional race saw Nico Rosberg retake the Drivers' Championship lead at a crucial part of the season. Having led from start to finish, the German has done what was previously assumed unlikely before the summer break by retaking control from Lewis Hamilton.

If i was a betting man, my money would still be on Hamilton claiming a fourth world title this year, but the way Rosberg has responded after the Summer break has been exceptional; three wins from three in Spa, Monza and Singapore means he now holds the momentum as we turn the final corner on this season.

Hamilton can take solace in the fact that the next three races, at Malaysia, Japan and USA, are places he has dominated in the hybrid-era. Should he repeat the feat this time round, he'll retake the lead once again. However, it is a big if. Rosberg has the ascendancy at the minute and looks determined to follow in his father's footsteps and win a world title. To do so, he'll need to dig deep and hold his nerve, just as he did with Daniel Ricciardo yesterday. The Australian wiped a twenty second deficit to cross the line just under two seconds behind the German in Singapore, but Rosberg had the bottle to ensure he met the chequered flag first. Hamilton won't be so lacklustre in Malaysia in two weeks, so Rosberg will need to maintain this competitive spirit. Whenever the two come close to blows, yo u get the impression that Hamilton is the more iron-willed of the two. However, Rosberg has displayed a steeliness in recent weeks that has been sorely lacking over the previous two seasons.

Whatever happens, it promises to be a very tense and exciting end to this otherwise predictable season.
